Like other forms of social media, Instagram (owned by Facebook) has algorithms in place that favor those who use the platform on a regular basis. Algorithms that will put your post in a more favorable position, depending on a variety of factors.
Posting at least once per day helps YOUR posts and your account, and therefore your link to your website in your bio, to be seen. The algorithms favor consistency.
The algorithms also favor posts with lots of engagement AKA likes and comments. (I have a secret weapon to increase engagement.)
What to post?
Family pictures, functions and events. Fun things you are doing. Motivational and inspirational quotes. Thought provoking questions. It’s your page, have fun with it.
Put a little bit of thought into how you want the overall look of your Instagram page to be.
If you are promoting a product or a business, mix it up. Use a bit of curiosity in your post, so your visitors will be compelled to go to your bio and your website link to learn more.
Is your page going to attract more visitors and get them to stick around and dig in if it is only “sell, sell, sell”?
My advice… mix up the content a bit. Keep in mind that people like to do business with those they feel they know, those they like and trust. Develop that “relationship” with your visitors by showing a bit more than just your products or business.
The How
There are many tools in the marketplace to help you.
I enjoy using https://canva.com and https://wordswag.com
Canva is my go to tool when I’m working on my computer.
Word Swag is my go to on my iPhone and my iPad.
I LOVE using “The Cloud”, so that I can transition seamlessly between my computer, iPhone and iPad, so that everything I create on my mobile devices is easily accessible on my computer and vice versa.
Drop Box is also a handy tool. I have it synced to all three devices, so that content I pop into it is readily available on all my devices.
I find the more I can implement automation in my posting to social media, the better. The better organized I am, ultimately, the more time I have to create new content.
I’ve been using an Instagram auto poster but I’ve recently started experimenting with a couple of different ones, so stay tuned and I’ll have my favorite to share soon.
In the meantime, one tip I’ll share, is set a time on your schedule to sit down and create some content in advance. My mentor does it on Sunday mornings with a cup of coffee, she sets up most of her posts a week or even two, or three, in advance. Filling in spur of the moment events and “things” as she goes, but having the bulk of the content ready in advance, helps her save time in the long run.
I’ve found doing the same works out really well for me in the long run.
Taking things a step further and having content set up in an Instagram auto poster is something that she and I both do, but again, we’re currently testing a few different ones, so I will be able to recommend the best of the best – soon. Again, stay tuned!
I mentioned secret weapons, I have several that most definitely give me the WOW factor on my Instagram and that really help boost me into Top 9, bump me onto the Discover page, and the Explore page, AND that help bring me real, organic, laser targeted followers, which of course all equates to more leads and more sales.
Multiple Instagram accounts or not?
That’s a personal choice. I personally have two main accounts:
(Pop over and follow both, comment and I’ll be sure to comment on your posts too.)
