Maybe you’ve seen the social media posts urging that online marketers stop promoting their services, and just ‘put things on hold’, and give away their stuff for free? Because everyone is struggling right now, and no one has any money, right?
I disagree.
Not because I’m a cold-hearted person – but because WE are the economy. And I believe those that CAN sell their services ‘virtually’ or in a safe, responsible way should. It serves no-one for us ALL to go out of business.
Yes, provide free resources, yes pivot your offices, yes volunteer, and support your community – but if at all possible please don’t stop selling. The world needs leaders right now and someone needs your skills.
You’ve probably also hired dozens of freelancers to support your business over the years – they have families and bills to pay too. I take it as a personal responsibility to stay in business for them.
So if you feel a bit weird about ‘selling’ when you know that other people are struggling right now, that just means you’re human. You have a heart. You also have a business.
Adjust your offer, be more flexible on payment plans, and re-work your packages. There are people who need what you have and DO see the value in it.
